One more show…May 3rd!

BUS’s Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival debut was a blast, so much so that we are gonna hit it again! May 3rd, Shakori Hills is hosting their Moonlight, Music and Dance Series, a one-day event with a host of bands, including us, the BUS., as well as Rootzie, Memphis the Band and Kelley & the Cowboys. We’ll be going on early, 3 pm, so come out in the afternoon, and stick around for food, camping, and impromptu jam sessions! For more info, check out their website.

Where have we been, and, the Return.

Where have we been? Mostly in the same places as before, but you know, different. Sorry to drop off the face of the earth like that. Many things in the lives of BUS went through changes this past fall and winter, and the band decided to take a bit of a break from this particular project. That’s about all there is to it; funny how life just gets in the way sometimes, and next thing you know 6 months have gone by and you’ve hardly maintained your website! Or booked any shows…ahem. Not to worry! The BUS will roll again, and soon! We are scheduled to Shakori Hills!!!

  • Friday, April 18th, 2008 - SHAKORI HILLS!!!! Get a ticket for the whole weekend and enjoy more music than 16 jukeboxes, or just get the day pass for Friday, ride the BUS, and then stay for mother freekin’ ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! I am still thirsty! Shakori Hills!

    Many Thanks!

For those of you that made it, you know that the CD Release show at the Cat’s Cradle was an AMAZING night, all the way around. The Modern Skirts and Bombadil set the tone for us, and the crowd was digging the music from Note One. Check the pics for some highlights. (click the pic).BUS: Cradle.

And don’t forget, BUS with Buzzround this Friday, Downtown Event Center, Raleigh, NC.

    Radio Appearances…

BUS will be on the airwaves tomorrow, Friday June 1st, not once, but TWICE. For those of you in Carrboro and Chapel Hill, you can hear us in the studio on Carrboro’s own WCOM 103.5 FM, on the Lunchtime Jam show, starting at 12pm. For those of you out of the range of WCOM, you can stream the broadcast online from their website.

Then, at 6 pm, BUS will be hanging out in the studios of WKNC 88.1 FM, The REVOLUTION outta Raleigh. The Local Beat with DJ Stevo is the show, BUS the guest. Once again, you can stream the show if you aren’t by the radio.

Tune in to one or both shows to hear us talk about everything you’ve ever wanted to hear us discuss, perform a few acoustic songs, and play some of the new tracks from our upcoming release, “…Moving People.”

CD RELEASE!!!! June 8th, The Cat’s Cradle!!!

    …Moving People

SO after much working to make sure it was actually possible, we are pleased to announce that the Cat’s Cradle show on June 8th will be our official CD release party for our new album, “…Moving People”. We are STOKED. The album is ten songs of pure BUS, songs you’ve heard live, and some you haven’t. Tell everyone that ever gave a happy damn about Big Pretty and the Red Rockets or BUS, the new album is out, and JUNE 8th is the night to pick it up.

    BUS in the Studio!

Hell yeah. Finally, the BUS has made it into the studio for their next full length album, the first since we transformed from BPRR into our current formation. Some of the songs go back that far, though, so the blend of older songs and new should be nice. We’ve been tracking in Underground Studios in Greensboro, NC, and it’s been a daunting task, but we are almost complete…keep posted for the upcoming release date, it’s sooner than you think.

    Spring springs eternal…

Man, the weather is scary these days. First a mild winter, then it gets hot, then it snows, then it stays cold for weeks again, and now the wind…I just dropped a tree in my backyard; maybe I can make a few hundred didgeridoos out of it…

The BUS always loves spring, no matter the record lows or highs. We have a few more shows added to the May calendar, Winston-Salem and Charlotte. Come have some fun with us, and don’t forget June 8th at the Cat’s Cradle with Bombadil and The Modern Skirts.

    See you all soon.

    Lullish of late…

The BUS. is parked momentarily as we try to get the next album worked out. Its hard, considering the circumstances, which I won’t even get into. If you need a fix, there’s two separate acoustic solo shows from BUS members Gary and Leon this week, check out the shows page to find out where. And then the big BUS gets rolling again on April 13th at KEFI in Wilmington, NC.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the shows in Damascus and Abingdon last week. Most fun we’ve had in a long while.

    THANKS!

Thanks to everyone who made it to the Library show yesterday. We had an awesome crowd, and two great bands performing beofre us. Rob the Killing Tree started the show off with a bang, some high-energy rock that got the crowd pumped. I especially dug the cover of RATM’s “Killing in the Name.” Contradiction blew everyone away with some silky smooth hip-hop grooves and undeniable talent. The heads were bobbin’ in the Library. Muchas Gracias to these two groups for doing their thing, and to the fans who made it out.
